I have visited the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple in Srirangam several times in the past. On my recent visit on 31st January 2012 I noticed a blue board on the way to the Chakrathalwar Sannadhi. This blue board had the layout of the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple. The layout of the place is really very stunning.
This temple is the biggest temple in the world as it covers an area of about 631,000 square meters with a perimeter of 4 km. The temple complex is 156 acres in extent. There are seven prakarams around the temple. There are 21 towers (gopurams) in the temple and the Rajagopuram at the main entrance is 236 feet tall. The Rajagopuram is visible from far off places.
Srirangam is one of the 108 divya desams and is considered one of the most important vishnu temple. It is a beautiful island town. The people who live in this town are very fortunate and blessed.
