A DAY WELL SPENT

If you sit down at set of sun
And count the acts that you have done,
And, counting, find
One self-denying deed, one word
That eased the heart of him who heard,
One glance most kind
That fell like sunshine where it went--
Then you may count that day well spent.

But if, through all the livelong day,
You've cheered no heart, by yea or nay--
If, through it all
You've nothing done that you can trace
That brought the sunshine to one face--
No act most small
That helped some soul and nothing cost--
Then count that day as worse than lost.

- George Eliot

A day well spent is a day on which we have made someone feel happy and brought a smile on the face of the other person. A day well spent should also result in developing our own skills and talents. We should not get complacent with the our own selves. This is very aptly depicted by Charlie Chaplin in this clipping where he encounters a Lion inside its cage.

Have fun. Be alert. Spend your day well. Let the day well spent bring you happiness, joy and prosperity. Spend the day well by developing yourself and also by contributing to the society in whatever little way you can.

Have a Nice Day.
